Oman Police urge motorists to drive cautiously in rain and fog

The Royal Oman Police (ROP), in collaboration with the National Risk Register, has issued a strong advisory to motorists, urging them to adopt heightened safety measures while driving in adverse weather conditions. The campaign, titled "What if weather conditions were difficult?", specifically targets periods of rain and fog, emphasizing the significant rise in traffic accident risks associated with these elements.

Authorities have reminded drivers that reduced visibility and slick road surfaces dramatically elevate the potential for accidents. To mitigate these dangers, the ROP advises a series of crucial driving practices. Motorists should adjust their speed to match the prevailing road and weather conditions, remain fully focused on the task of driving, and consistently maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles. Additionally, drivers are instructed to grip the steering wheel firmly with both hands to ensure maximum control.

The ROP underscored the critical importance of adhering to safe driving practices, especially during times of unstable weather. The police force called upon all road users to maintain vigilance and strictly comply with traffic safety guidelines. This proactive approach aims to protect both the drivers themselves and other individuals on the road.
