Omani Crafts Forum Opens in Salalah, Spotlighting Heritage and Innovation

The Omani Crafts Forum, titled “Identity and Extension,” has opened its doors in Salalah, bringing together artisans, businesses, and suppliers of traditional craft materials. The event, running until August 22, aims to celebrate Oman's rich heritage while exploring avenues for innovation and preservation.

Organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, in collaboration with local authorities, the forum seeks to highlight the authenticity and evolution of Omani crafts. It provides a platform for live demonstrations, allowing visitors to witness traditional techniques and understand the inherited knowledge behind them.

The forum also champions contemporary designs inspired by Oman's historical roots, encouraging a blend of traditional craftsmanship with modern creativity. A key objective is to inspire emerging artisans to experiment with new tools and techniques while maintaining the core identity of Omani crafts. This initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040, aiming to develop revitalized craft industries for the future.
