Ondo Central: Return Akinyelure to Senate, Adebumiti urges voters

Political analyst Adedotun Adebumiti has called on voters in Nigeria's Ondo Central Senatorial District to back Ayo Akinyelure, the candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in the upcoming 2027 election. Adebumiti emphasized that the decision is rooted in Akinyelure's past performance during his previous tenure as Senator from 2011 to 2015.

Adebumiti described Akinyelure's previous term as one marked by significant employment opportunities for constituents, community development initiatives, and a commitment to accessibility. "Akinyelure’s open-door policy allowed constituents to easily communicate their needs and concerns. That is essential for effective representation," Adebumiti stated. He asserted that communities across the district benefited from Akinyelure's service, noting that many individuals secured employment in sectors like civil defense, immigration, and the police through his interventions.

The analyst also voiced criticism regarding the current representation, alleging issues with the distribution of empowerment opportunities and the removal of names from beneficiary lists. Adebumiti stressed the importance of elected officials ensuring their programs are accessible to all constituents, irrespective of political affiliation. He further highlighted Akinyelure's personal appeal and dedication to public service, evidenced by his history of winning elections on different political platforms.

He has the credibility and the passion. When he was in office, he employed many people, from civil defence to immigration and the police. You cannot go to any local government in Ondo Central without meeting someone who benefited from employment opportunities.
