OpenAI Removes ChatGPT Chat Limits, Upgrades Models for All Users

OpenAI has eliminated usage limits for text-based chats on its ChatGPT platform, a move that significantly enhances accessibility for both free and paid users. The company is transitioning to its next-generation GPT-5.6 neural network models, marking a substantial upgrade from previous versions.

Free-tier users will now utilize GPT-5.6 Luna, which replaces GPT-5.5. This model reportedly demonstrates a 62% reduction in factual errors compared to its predecessor. Subscribers to the Plus and Pro plans gain access to GPT-5.6 Sol, an advanced version optimized for complex analysis, information retrieval, and planning. Paid users will also benefit from a new tool allowing manual adjustment of the algorithm's processing time for queries, enabling finer control over responses.

OpenAI has also integrated a "Think" function, which employs a heightened level of logical reasoning for intricate questions. The GPT-5.6 Sol model boasts a 68% increase in accuracy. The rollout of unlimited chats and the "Think" mode is expected to be completed by mid-August. While image generation, file handling, and voice messaging will retain separate limitations, the core text-chat experience is now unrestricted.
