Opposition will cry ‘rigging’ when Tinubu wins 2027 election, Akpabio predicts

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has predicted that opposition parties will allege electoral manipulation if President Bola Tinubu secures a second term in 2027. Akpabio made this assertion while receiving members of the City Boy Movement, a pro-Tinubu support group, at the National Assembly in Abuja.

Akpabio, who is the Grand Patron of the movement, encouraged the group to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts for Tinubu's re-election. He expressed confidence in the President's victory, anticipating that the opposition would cry foul regardless of the outcome. "When the victory of President Bola Tinubu will be announced, you will hear people saying it is rigged. That they did this or that. Ignore all those things and remain focused," he stated.

The Senate President emphasized the importance of having agents in every polling unit, suggesting that the City Boy Movement's presence could have prevented votes from being uncounted in the previous election. He urged the movement's members and Nigerian youths to remain focused, shun cultism and drug abuse, and engage in active political participation to shape the country's future.

"You are privileged to work for the future of your country. You are privileged to tow the right path that has nothing to do with cultism or terrorism," Akpabio told the group. He assured them of 100 percent support from his end for their efforts in charting the path for the next administration and ensuring Tinubu's victory in 2027.
