Organizers No Longer Skeptical After "Hujan 20 Years" Concert Success

The "Hujan 20 Years" concert at the Bukit Jalil Hockey Stadium has significantly shifted perceptions, convincing organizers of the Malaysian indie band's drawing power. AG Coco, the band's composer, lyricist, and guitarist, stated that following the concert's success in late June, more organizers are now approaching Hujan with performance offers at their set rates.

"Before, Hujan was seen as too exclusive, making organizers less confident about paying our requested performance fees. But after the concert at the Bukit Jalil Hockey Stadium, we proved our ability to attract a large audience, and now organizers are confident in paying our rates."

The concert, held on June 27, drew 17,000 attendees, setting a new benchmark for indie bands. AG, whose real name is Mohd Hedzry Mohd Hafidz, admitted they were surprised by the turnout, having initially anticipated a smaller venue like Zepp Kuala Lumpur or Mega Star Arena. "Organizers initially wanted to hold it at the Bukit Jalil Hockey Stadium. We were skeptical if our fans could fill the stadium because the chosen location was too large. We expected to play at Zepp Kuala Lumpur or Mega Star Arena at most. But if we don't take the risk to play in a large venue, who will? So, we took the risk," he said.

We set appropriate ticket prices. But with tickets selling out, our responsibility became heavier. We had to deliver a performance that was worth it. That's why, besides our performance, we provided glow sticks, invited other artists, and more. We wanted to give an experience, not just sing and leave.
