Oriente wins away for the first time this season

Oriente Petrolero achieved their first away win of the current season, triumphing 2-1 over Independiente at the Patria stadium in Sucre. The victory came during the eleventh round of the league.

Jorge Lovera opened the scoring for Oriente Petrolero with a penalty kick in the 26th minute. The lead was extended in the 78th minute by Uruguayan player Ricardo Roldán. Independiente managed to pull one goal back in the 93rd minute through Willie Barbosa, but it was not enough to change the outcome.

With this win, Gustavo Florentín's team now joins Guabirá and Real Oruro in a three-way tie for third place with 14 points each. In contrast, Independiente is struggling significantly since the league's return. This latest defeat was their fourth in a row, causing them to slip from the leading group to twelfth place with 12 points.

Before the match, an incident involving fan altercations in the stands required police intervention with tear gas to disperse the crowds. The effects of the gas were felt on the field, causing a delay in the game's start. Independiente controlled possession for much of the match, facing a defensively solid Oriente Petrolero that relied on counter-attacks. Oriente had opportunities to increase their lead in the first half but failed to convert, going into halftime with only a one-goal advantage.
