Osun 2026: Voters turn out early in Adeleke’s hometown

Residents of Ede, the hometown of Governor Ademola Adeleke, demonstrated a strong commitment to civic duty by arriving early at polling units for the Osun governorship election on Saturday. As of 6:30 a.m., vehicles were observed transporting voters and youth corps members to various polling stations, with some voters arriving as early as 6:40 a.m. to await accreditation.

Security was a visible presence throughout Ede North and Ede South Local Government Areas, with personnel manning checkpoints to enforce vehicular movement restrictions. Both the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) had personnel at polling units by 6:50 a.m., ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials and election materials.

While accreditation had commenced in some polling units, others were still awaiting the posting of eligible voter lists by INEC officials. Local election observers were also present at some units, monitoring the situation pending the start of accreditation. Polling units visited included Sagba Agbogunde Ward 2, unit 9; Adogbe Ward 3, unit 5; and CAC Ward 4, unit 2 in Ede North, as well as Orita Alajue Ward 5, unit 1; Obalaoye Unit 5, Ward 2; and Agip Ward 2, unit 3 in Ede South.
