Ad hoc staff for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived promptly at various polling units within Ilesa on Saturday, signaling the commencement of the Osun State governorship election. Correspondents monitoring the exercise reported early arrivals at units such as Ward 1, Unit 8, and Ward 8, Unit 3, both in Ilesa West Local Government Area.

Many voters were seen actively checking their names against the registers posted near the polling booths. Segun Adegbaju, the Supervisory Presiding Officer for Ward 1, Unit 8 in Ilesa West Local Government, stated that voting was slated to begin by 8:30 a.m. He reported no challenges encountered so far, good security, and a steady stream of voters arriving to verify their registration status.

A significant security presence was evident throughout the Ilesa metropolis, with armed soldiers stationed at intervals of less than a kilometer. The report also noted the presence of a physically challenged individual, Mrs. Toyin Fapohunda, at a polling unit in Ward 5, Unit 1, Ilesa East Local Government Area.
