Osun APC, Accord Clash Over Withheld LG Funds, Salary Payments

The campaign council for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State has leveled serious accusations against Governor Ademola Adeleke, alleging that he is deliberately withholding essential documents required for the payment of salaries to local government staff. This move, according to the APC, has plunged the state into confusion and inflicted pain on innocent residents, particularly those reliant on these salaries.

The APC campaign council, through its Media Committee Co-Chairman Kola Olabisi, accused Governor Adeleke of personalizing the local government administration. They contend that by withdrawing the necessary documents, the governor is preventing the court-reinstated local government chairmen and councilors from fulfilling their obligations to pay salaries and allowances. The APC campaign council questioned the governor's actions, suggesting that such conduct, if occurring in a more accountable society, would be grounds for impeachment.

It is astonishing that a governor could deliberately withdraw all the documents from the local government council areas that could enable the Court of Appeal-reinstated local government council chairmen and councillors to effectively fulfil the payment of the salaries and allowances of government workers at the grassroots level and all other auxiliary staff whose lives depend on the salaries.

However, the Osun Accord Party has vehemently dismissed these allegations, labeling them as "poorly scripted hogwash." The Accord Party argues that the APC's claims are a desperate attempt to divert public attention from what they describe as "monumental financial atrocities" committed within the local government system during previous APC administrations. They expressed amusement and shame that individuals who allegedly benefited from the "reckless looting of local government resources" are now resorting to "emotional propaganda and empty noise" to blackmail the current administration.

The Accord Party insisted that the people of Osun State deserve transparency, responsibility, and development. They vowed to resist any attempts to derail the state's progress, signaling a sharp political divide and a battle for public perception over the management of local government finances and administration in Osun State.
