Osun Decides 2026: Voters flock to polling units in Ede for governorship election

Voters in Ede, Osun state, Nigeria, arrived early at polling units on Saturday to cast their ballots in the ongoing governorship election. By 6:30 a.m., vehicles were seen transporting voters and youth corps members to various polling stations. Some residents arrived as early as 6:40 a.m., awaiting verification and accreditation by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials.

Security personnel were visible across Ede North and Ede South local government areas, enforcing a vehicular movement restriction order. Local election observers were also present at some polling units, monitoring the situation before the commencement of accreditation. Police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel arrived early at polling units, anticipating the arrival of INEC officials with election materials.

While accreditation had begun in some areas, other visited polling units had not yet posted the names of eligible voters. The election covered units in Sagba Agbogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, Adogbe Ward 3, Unit 5, CAC Ward 4, Unit 2 in Ede North, and Orita Alajue Ward 5, Unit 1, Obalaoye Unit 5, Ward 2, and Agip Ward 2, Unit 3 in Ede South. Ede is the hometown of Governor Ademola Adeleke, the governorship candidate for the Accord party.
