Osun Election: FRSC Deploys 2,500 Personnel, 50 Vehicles for Traffic Management

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has mobilized 2,500 personnel and 50 operational vehicles, including tow trucks and ambulances, to manage traffic and respond to emergencies during the Osun State governorship election. The deployment is designed to ensure smooth traffic, swift emergency aid, and adherence to movement restrictions throughout Saturday's election. Personnel from the Osun Sector Command, bolstered by teams from neighboring Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, and Ogun states, will cover all three senatorial districts. Operational and rescue assets are strategically positioned across the state to facilitate safe movement for election officials, observers, security agents, and other road users. The FRSC's commitment to a peaceful, safe, and credible election is underscored by this significant deployment. FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed stated that personnel will perform their duties with professionalism, neutrality, and respect for human rights. They will collaborate closely with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) and other relevant agencies. "Our mandate is clear: to ensure that the roads remain safe, orderly and accessible within the framework of the electoral security arrangements. We will be firm, professional and impartial in the discharge of our responsibilities," Mohammed said. Additionally, the FRSC will conduct a Train-the-Trainer Workshop for election duty personnel, involving representatives from the Nigeria Police Force, INEC, DSS, and NSCDC. The Corps will also certify vehicles used for transporting electoral materials to ensure roadworthiness. Enforcement of movement restrictions will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, with operatives stationed at key locations. Motorists are advised to plan journeys and comply with regulations.
