Osun Election: You can’t deploy power inside ballot booth, ADC tells APC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the Osun State governorship election. The party asserted that Adeleke's win exposed the limitations of the political machinery deployed by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). According to the ADC, the victory transcended Adeleke himself, proving that voters can overcome fear and unite to defend their choices against formidable political forces. The ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that the people of Osun demonstrated that no political machine is greater than a determined electorate. The party also alleged that despite heavy security, violence, arrests, and intimidation, voters remained undeterred, strengthening their resolve to participate. The ADC highlighted that the outcome signifies Nigerians' capacity for peaceful government change through the ballot box, crediting opposition cooperation and election observers for contributing to the result. However, the ADC raised concerns regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) handling of results, alleging that uploads to the Result Viewing Portal (IReV) were halted for nearly four hours when the APC appeared to be losing. The party demanded an explanation from INEC about these interruptions, warning that such developments should not be ignored ahead of the 2027 general elections.
