Osun warns public against fake sports trust fund website

Osun State has warned residents about a website presenting itself as the “Osun State Sports Trust Fund,” saying the platform is fraudulent and has no government authorisation.

In a statement, the government identified the website as osunsportstrustfund.com and told the public to disregard its information, fundraising appeals, requests and transaction offers. It also advised people not to provide information or make payments through the platform unless its authenticity is confirmed through official state channels.

The warning comes as Osun is pursuing plans for a genuine Sports Trust Fund. Governor Ademola Adeleke said in February 2025 that his administration was completing the legal framework for a Sports Commission and the fund, which was intended to create sustainable financing for sports development.

Adeleke made the announcement during the rehabilitation of Osogbo City Stadium. The government linked the project and the proposed fund to broader efforts to improve sports infrastructure and support athletes.

The unauthorised website advertises funding and partnership opportunities, references the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and displays a proposed investment target. Those features could make it appear connected to the government’s announced plans, prompting the state to stress the difference between the platform and any official initiative.
