Over $5 Billion Deposited in PM's Relief Fund for Bhotekoshi Flood Response

Nepal's Prime Minister Balen Shah announced that the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund has received substantial contributions totaling over Rs 5.04 billion to support rescue and relief operations for victims of the devastating Bhotekoshi floods. The funds have been deposited across accounts held at nine commercial banks.

In addition to the local currency, the fund has also received a significant international contribution of US$1.8 million. These funds are earmarked for assisting those who have been stranded and affected by the severe flooding that impacted the region.

Prime Minister Shah emphasized the importance of transparency and security in managing the donations. He issued a public appeal urging individuals and organizations wishing to contribute to exclusively use the government's officially published QR codes and bank account details. This measure is intended to prevent potential financial fraud and ensure the proper management of the aid.

The Prime Minister stressed that all financial assistance should be directed through accounts specifically designated for disaster relief, namely those under the names ‘Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund’ and ‘Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.’ This directive aims to guarantee the transparent and effective use of all contributions during this critical disaster situation.
