Over €950,000 of crystal meth and cannabis seized at Dublin Airport

More than €950,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine and cannabis were seized by officials at Dublin Airport on Sunday, following the discovery in a passenger's luggage.

The significant drug haul was found in the baggage of a woman who had disembarked from a flight originating in Canada. Revenue officers, assisted by a detector dog named Charlie, uncovered approximately 6kg of crystal meth and 29kg of herbal cannabis. The drugs were vacuum-packed and divided between two large suitcases.

The cannabis alone is estimated to be worth €584,000, while the crystal methamphetamine has a value exceeding €368,000. The woman, who is in her 50s, was taken into custody at a Dublin Garda station under the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. Revenue confirmed that investigations into the matter are continuing.
