Oyebanji names govt buildings after Fayose, Fayemi, Oni

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has honored former governors of the state by naming newly constructed government buildings after them. This initiative recognizes their significant contributions to the development of Ekiti State.

Two of the buildings, named after the immediate past governor, Dr Fayemi, and a former governor, Chief Fayose, are scheduled for commissioning on Friday, July 31, 2026, and Monday, August 3, 2026, respectively.

The buildings named are after Chief Ayodele Fayose, Chief Segun Oni, and Dr. Kayode Fayemi, all former governors. According to Yinka Oyebode, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, two buildings named after immediate past governor Dr. Fayemi and former governor Chief Fayose are slated for commissioning on July 31 and August 3, 2026, respectively. Another building, named after former governor Segun Oni, is nearing completion and is scheduled for commissioning in October.

This move follows a similar gesture in October 2024, when Governor Oyebanji named the remodeled Presidential Lodge after the state's first civilian governor, Niyi Adebayo. The former governors will also serve as special guests of honor and personally inaugurate the buildings named in their honor on the designated dates.

The commissioning of these projects marks the beginning of another phase of project inaugurations as Governor Oyebanji concludes his first term and prepares for a second. This initiative underscores Oyebanji's commitment to completing and delivering all projects initiated by his administration, aligning with the 'Shared Prosperity Agenda'.
