Pakatan Harapan targets 24 seats for two-thirds majority in Negeri Sembilan

Pakatan Harapan (PH) is targeting 22 to 24 seats in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election to establish a government with a strong two-thirds majority. This strategic goal aims to ensure governmental stability, avoiding the weaknesses seen in previous administrations. Negeri Sembilan's current Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, is personally contesting the Linggi state constituency as part of this strategy.

The government formed must be stable. One of the reasons I need to contest in Linggi is to ensure that PH needs a comfortable number of seats.

Aminuddin explained that contesting in Linggi is crucial for PH to achieve a comfortable majority. He noted that while PH traditionally holds urban and suburban seats, there is potential for growth in rural areas like Linggi. He believes that with focused leadership engagement, the coalition can garner significant support from rural voters, citing positive initial responses in Linggi, which encompasses diverse communities including fishermen and farmers.

That means comfortable is around 22 to 24 seats. We are well aware this is not easy, but we must work towards it. It is not impossible for us to translate this in this election.

He emphasized that securing a substantial mandate is essential for the continuous implementation of development plans. Aminuddin expressed confidence that voters recognize the positive impact of the coalition's past actions. While acknowledging it is too early to definitively gauge voter sentiment, he believes the outcome will become clearer closer to polling day.

PH always has the potential to win in rural seats because that support is always there.

Previously, PH Deputy Chairman Anthony Loke Siew Fook stated the coalition's ambition to win at least 23 of the 36 state seats. PH currently holds 17 seats and governs Negeri Sembilan in coalition with Barisan Nasional, which secured 14 seats. The remaining five seats are held by other parties.

PH's traditional seats are in urban and suburban areas. But when I am here (Linggi), I find that support is there, it just needs the main leadership to come down.
