Pakistan: Suicide bomber kills 14 at anti-militancy protest

The demonstration was organized outside a local police station, with attendees protesting against the escalating militant violence in the region and what they perceive as the state's failure to ensure public safety. Protesters voiced accusations that authorities have not acted decisively against militants, expressing a desire for a life free from fear after years of conflict.

The Swat Valley was once a stronghold for the Taliban between 2007 and 2009 before the Pakistani military re-established government control. However, religious militants, particularly the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), have recently resurfaced. The TTP, while separate from, is allied with Afghanistan's Taliban rulers, creating ongoing tensions between the neighboring countries.
