PAM Bandarmasih Extends Drinking Water Taps to Seven Schools in Banjarmasin

PT Air Minum (PAM) Bandarmasih has expanded its initiative to provide drinking water taps to seven schools in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. This program aims to enhance students' access to safe drinking water and simultaneously curb the consumption of single-use plastic bottles within educational institutions.

We want students to have easier access to clean and healthy drinking water, while also reducing plastic waste in schools.

The seven schools benefiting from this initiative are SMAN 7 Banjarmasin, SDN Kelayan Barat 1, SDN Pekauman 3, SDN Teluk Tiram 6, SDN Kelayan Selatan 5, SD Mantuil 3, and SDN Pelambuan 7. The selection of these locations is intended to ensure that a greater number of students can easily obtain drinking water while at school.

Hj Yulia Riana Sari, Director of General Affairs and Marketing at PAM Bandarmasih, explained that the project focuses not only on physical facilities but also on fostering healthy and environmentally friendly habits from a young age. She stated, "We want students to have easier access to clean and healthy drinking water, while also reducing plastic waste in schools." The availability of these taps is expected to encourage students to bring their own reusable tumblers, thereby decreasing reliance on bottled beverages.

So students just need to bring a tumbler and fill it from the tap we have provided. This way, the use of plastic bottles can be reduced.

School principals have expressed their appreciation for the program. Arjudin, the headmaster of SMAN 7 Banjarmasin, believes the facility will help students avoid purchasing bottled drinks, leading to better health and reduced plastic waste. He also expressed hope that such programs could be extended to more schools in Banjarmasin.

Hopefully, children will no longer depend on bottled drinks, so they will be healthier and the use of plastic waste in schools will decrease. We also hope that programs like this can be expanded to more schools in Banjarmasin.
