Panevėžys arena gets new professional basketball court in multi-million euro upgrade

Panevėžys's "Kalnapilio" arena, home to the local basketball team Lietkabelis, has completed a major infrastructure upgrade with the installation of a brand-new parquet floor specifically designed for professional basketball competitions. This marks a key phase in the ongoing modernization of the arena, managed by the Panevėžys Real Estate Management Center (NTVC).

The investment in the new court, which cost 133,000 euros, is expected to enhance the experience for all users of the facility. "Investments in the arena's infrastructure mean higher quality conditions for everyone using it and the opportunity for Panevėžys to host high-level national and international sports competitions," stated Panevėžys Mayor Loreta Masiliūnienė.

The previous court surface had been in use since the arena's opening nearly two decades ago. The replacement involved installing the new parquet, official court markings, and a fresh court design. This upgrade is crucial not only for the professional team but also for the numerous children and young people who use the arena daily for sports, training, and various city events.

Beyond the new court, the NTVC is actively pursuing other modernization initiatives within the arena. These include interior renovations, replacement of secretariat desks, repairs to the central video cube and scoreboard, and fixing malfunctioning segments. Future plans involve upgrading the LED lighting system and acquiring new basketball hoops.

The arena's infrastructure development is proceeding in stages, with a focus on solutions that improve conditions for athletes, referees, event organizers, and spectators. The NTVC also continuously performs maintenance and repair work to ensure the arena remains safe, reliable, and compliant with the requirements for national and international sports events.
