Paraguay Futsal Captain Mareco Joins French Club Sporting Paris

Julio Damián Mareco, the captain of the Paraguayan national futsal team, is embarking on a new chapter in his career, signing with the prominent French club Sporting Paris.

Mareco arrives from Jaén Paraíso Interior, a top-tier Spanish club where he recently helped secure both the Copa de España and the Copa del Rey titles in the past season. The 31-year-old defender's move to France represents his fourth stint in European futsal.

Before his successful period in Spain, Mareco played for Differdange 03 in Luxembourg and Córdoba Patrimonio de la Humanidad. His earlier career also included spells with Sport Colonial and Olimpia in his native Paraguay.

Sporting Paris, a club with a rich history in French futsal, boasts six league titles and six Copa de Francia trophies. The acquisition of Mareco, a recognized international talent, is intended to strengthen the team's squad as they seek to maintain their leading position in the domestic league and enhance their competitiveness in continental competitions.
