Paraguay Holidays 2026: New days to be celebrated this year and those that could be decreed

Paraguay is set to observe 12 official public holidays in 2026, a mix of patriotic and religious observances. Some holidays are fixed, while others may be moved to create longer weekends, aiming to stimulate the economy and tourism.

Adding to the calendar, a new holiday, the National Constitution Day, will be celebrated on June 20. Furthermore, a recently approved law allows the executive branch to declare up to three exceptional holidays. These additional days off could be granted if the Paraguayan national football team achieves success in the 2026 World Cup.

The year's holidays begin with the national holiday on January 1. March will feature the Day of the Heroes, commemorating those who fought for Paraguay's independence, with the holiday moved to Monday, March 2, to create a long weekend. April includes the traditional Holy Week holidays on April 2 and 3. May marks International Workers' Day on May 1 and celebrates Paraguay's Independence Day on May 14 and 15, with May 15 also being Mother's Day.
