Paraguay Police Identify Suspects in Deadly Attack on Naranjito Police Station

Paraguayan authorities are investigating a deadly assault on a police outpost in Naranjito, located in the Canindeyú department. The attack, which occurred Tuesday night, left three people dead: two police officers and a civilian employee of the station. The police post and several vehicles were also completely destroyed by fire.

During a press conference, the Commander of the National Police, César Silguero, stated that investigators have identified "some names" of individuals believed to be responsible for the attack. Silguero indicated that the police consider this to be the work of a criminal organization, noting that attacking a police unit sends a message to the state. However, he limited further details due to the ongoing investigation.

While not ruling out any possibilities, Silguero mentioned that members of the self-proclaimed Paraguayan People's Army (EPP) or other groups could be involved. The incident has heightened security concerns in the region, prompting a swift and thorough investigation by the National Police to identify and apprehend all individuals connected to the violent act.
