Paraguay's Labor Ministry Probes Alleged Irregularities in Hospital Cleaning Services

Paraguay's Ministry of Labor has launched a formal investigation into alleged labor violations impacting outsourced cleaning staff at the Institute of Social Security (IPS) hospital. Labor Minister Mónica Recalde led an inspection at the Central Hospital, responding to complaints of undue wage deductions, mandatory uniform purchases, and incomplete salary payments.

During the inspection, labor inspectors interviewed affected workers to document their working conditions and compliance with labor laws. The complaints include arbitrary deductions, forced uniform payments, and wages below the stipulated amount. Minister Recalde stated that the ministry will conduct thorough investigations and implement legal measures to protect the workers' rights.

This initiative is part of a broader plan by the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security to scrutinize the cleaning sector, which is identified as having a high rate of precarious employment. The goal is to guarantee strict adherence to labor rights and ensure dignified working conditions for all employees in this field.
