Paraguay's Pride March This Year Focuses on Solidarity and Aid

This Saturday, June 20, 2026, Paraguay's LGBTQ+ organization SOMOSGAY will host its traditional Pride March, this year with a special focus on solidarity. The event, beginning with a gathering at Plaza de la Libertad in Asunción at 2:00 PM, invites citizens to participate in a march around the city center starting at 4:00 PM.

Following the march, a "Solidarity Pride Fair" will commence at 5:00 PM. The core of this year's initiative is the collection of donations, including food, clothing, traditional Guarani food items, and non-perishable goods. These collected items will be distributed to the Takuapu Mirî indigenous community in Villeta, the Artista Róga Community Center in Bañado Sur, and other entities within the TEKOHARÂ program.

SOMOSGAY emphasizes that the march is a call for the "liberation of all territories for all people." The organization also uses the occasion to remember the Stonewall Uprising of June 28, 1969, a pivotal moment when the LGBTQ+ community in New York stood against police raids. "Our rainbow flag has always been diverse, multiple, and hopeful," SOMOSGAY stated, adding that "hope for a better world is born and sustained in the solidarity expressed in the mutual and selfless help that our communities embody."
