Paraguay: Traffic diversions begin for Tape Tuja viaduct construction

Drivers in Paraguay should prepare for traffic disruptions around the Ñu Guasu Park as construction on the Tape Tuja return viaduct intensifies. Starting Saturday, August 15, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will implement lane realignments to facilitate the lifting of viaduct beams. This work is part of the broader duplication of Route D025, known as the "Corredor Vial Las Residentas."

On Saturday, work will focus on the Luque-bound lane, requiring the opposite carriageway to operate as a temporary two-way street. Traffic exiting the city will use the external lane and shoulder, which will be exceptionally opened for vehicles. On Sunday, the focus shifts to the outbound lane towards Asunción. Travelers heading to Asunción will use a lane from the opposite direction, while the Luque entrance will remain open with traffic controllers present.

Ing. José Cabrera, coordinator of the MOPC's Strategic Projects Unit, emphasized efforts to minimize inconvenience, stating, "We are taking advantage of the holiday and the reduced weekend traffic to cause the least possible disruption. We guarantee the availability of the road for all users at all times." Additionally, the MOPC is undertaking drainage channel work at the intersection of General Elizardo Aquino and Sudamericana avenues until late August, which has closed the left lane entering Luque.
