Parents Moved as People's School Opens in Wonosobo, Offering Free Education

Tears of joy flowed among parents at the opening ceremony of the School Readiness Program (MPLS) for the 2026/2027 academic year at the People's School in Wonosobo, Central Java. The event marked a significant moment for families who are now able to provide their children with free, quality education.

Tri Murniyati, a single mother supporting five family members on a meager income from farming, tearfully expressed her gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto for establishing the People's Schools. She shared the immense difficulty she faced in financing her children's education and how this program offers a vital opportunity for them to pursue their dreams and make their parents proud. Her son, Muhammad Daud, is among the new students.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Turmudi, another parent working as a farm laborer with an unpredictable income. He conveyed his relief and happiness that his eldest son, Syekh Mufti, can now attend school for free. Turmudi thanked President Prabowo Subianto for supporting families like his, expressing hope that his children will become intelligent.

Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono explained that the People's School program is President Prabowo's vision to combat intergenerational poverty by ensuring educational access for children from low-income families. He noted that approximately 4.1 million Indonesian children are currently out of school due to economic constraints, underscoring the program's importance in addressing this broader educational challenge.
