Parts of Karachi receive light showers; more rain expected

Karachi is set to experience more rainfall, with light showers already reported in various parts of the city on Saturday. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting light to moderate rain accompanied by dust and thunderstorms to continue until Monday. Areas such as Gulshan-i-Maymar, Gulshan-i-Hadeed, and the Super Highway have already received light precipitation, according to DawnNewsTV.

The PMD's forecast indicates that a westerly wave currently affecting northern Pakistan is expected to strengthen and influence the upper and central regions of the country. This system is likely to bring moderate rainfall with dust and thunderstorms to Karachi intermittently from Saturday through Monday. The forecast also extends to several districts, with moderate to heavy rainfall anticipated in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Khairpur, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Matiari, and Shaheed Benazirabad districts. Other districts, including Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, Naushahro Feroze, Thatta, and Jamshoro, are also expected to see rainfall with dust and thunderstorms.

On Saturday, the port city was expected to experience maximum temperatures between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius. The weather was predicted to be cloudy, with a chance of rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. This period of unsettled weather follows a spell of high temperatures, offering some respite to the city.
