PAS Awaits UMNO Response to Muktamar Invitation

PAS is waiting to hear back from UMNO on whether four of its leaders will attend the party's 72nd Annual Muktamar. The event is scheduled to take place in Kota Bharu from September 2 to 5.

PAS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan stated that the party extended the invitation to UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and three other party leaders three days prior. He expressed hope that they would be able to attend if their schedules allowed.

"We are still waiting, we just sent the letter. We invited the UMNO President himself and three of his leaders. I will be in touch and we have about 10 days until the muktamar," Takiyuddin said. He was speaking after a talk on current issues and the Syariah Criminal Offences (Kelantan) Bill 2026 in Kota Bharu on Friday night.

UMNO had previously reported that it would consider the invitation extended by PAS to attend the party's muktamar.
