PCN seals 821 pharmacies, patent stores in Kano

In a significant move to sanitize the pharmaceutical sector, the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has shut down 821 premises in Kano State. This enforcement action targeted pharmacies, patent medicine stores, and numerous illegal outlets that failed to adhere to the council's stringent Act and the National Drug Distribution Guidelines. Dr. Sulaiman Chiroma, Head of Department, Enforcement at PCN, announced that the operation, spanning eight local government areas, inspected over 1,100 premises. The sealed outlets were found to be in breach of licensing and registration requirements, and some were involved in unauthorized clinical practices. This rigorous enforcement demonstrates the PCN's unwavering commitment to ensuring that all medicines flow through approved channels, safeguarding public health from substandard or illicit drugs.
