PDIP Respects Legal Process After Sukoharjo Regent's Arrest in Graft Operation

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) in Central Java has stated its respect for the legal process following the arrest of Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani in an anti-graft operation. Suryani was detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday, July 9, 2026, along with the Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) and the Head of the General Affairs Bureau of the Sukoharjo Regional Secretariat.

DPD PDI Perjuangan Jawa Tengah states its stance to fully respect all legal enforcement processes currently being carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Sukoharjo Regency.

The KPK alleges that Suryani was involved in extorting regional officials in Sukoharjo, reportedly receiving "deposits" from incentives due to BPKAD employees. The operation also saw the detention of five individuals, with Suryani, Richard Tri Handoko (BPKAD Head), and Tri Mulyo (General Affairs Head) officially named as suspects.

As a party that adheres to principles and upholds the supremacy of law, we place law above all else and believe that law enforcement institutions will work professionally, transparently, and justly.

PDIP Central Java stated that if the authorities officially declare the involved parties as suspects, the party will recommend to its central leadership (DPP) to impose organizational sanctions in accordance with its articles of association. The party reiterated its commitment to upholding the rule of law and believes the KPK will conduct a professional, transparent, and just investigation.

If the authorized law enforcement institution officially declares the criminal status of the parties involved as PDI Perjuangan members, DPD PDI Perjuangan Central Java will immediately recommend to the DPP PDI Perjuangan to take steps to enforce party integrity, namely firm organizational sanctions that will be processed in accordance with the mechanisms stipulated in the Articles of Association/House Rules (AD/ART) and party regulations.

Furthermore, PDIP Central Java views the incident as an opportunity to reaffirm its dedication to clean governance. The party consistently instructs and reminds all its cadres holding public office, whether in executive or legislative roles, to prioritize principles of clean governance, integrity, and adherence to all laws and regulations.
