Pelindo and IKM Strengthen Nickel Ore Logistics at Kendari Port

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) and PT Indo Konstruksi Mineral (IKM) have officially strengthened their collaboration to enhance the distribution of mineral commodities, particularly nickel ore, in Southeast Sulawesi. The strategic partnership was cemented with the signing of an agreement for the utilization of storage areas and the handling of loading and unloading services for nickel ore at Kendari Port.

Herryanto, General Manager of Pelindo Regional Kendari, stated in Makassar that this initiative is a strategic effort to optimize port facilities and bolster its role in supporting the supply chain for the mining and mineral processing industry in the region. "This cooperation is expected to add value for both companies and encourage an increase in cargo volume through Kendari Port. Pelindo, along with all entities within the company, will continue to provide reliable, safe, and needs-based services to users," Herryanto said.

The collaboration extends beyond just loading, unloading, and storage of nickel ore. Herryanto expressed hope that Kendari Port will eventually become a key point for shipping processed mineral products from PT IKM. This, he believes, will create a seamless logistics flow from raw materials to finished goods. "We hope this cooperation continues to develop. In the future, we also expect processed products from PT IKM's smelter to be shipped via Kendari Port, creating a continuous logistics flow from raw materials to processed products," he added.

According to Herryanto, developing these services will strengthen Kendari Port's position as a primary gateway for Southeast Sulawesi's key commodities.
