Pelni Extends Legal Cooperation with Attorney General's Office to Strengthen Governance

PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia, or Pelni, has extended its cooperation agreement with the Attorney General's Office for Civil and State Administrative Affairs (Jamdatun). This renewed partnership is designed to bolster legal assistance, governance, and risk mitigation for the state-owned shipping company's operations and corporate actions.

Pelni's President Director, Budi Setyawan Wijaya, stated that the extension with Jamdatun is a crucial step to ensure all corporate activities and decisions consider legal and governance aspects from their inception. "Jamdatun's assistance is expected to be involved from the planning stage so that potential legal risks can be identified and mitigated early on," Budi said.

In previous collaborations, Pelni and Jamdatun worked together on resolving land ownership issues in Kendari. They also provided legal assistance for corporate activities, including the use of State Capital Participation funds for 2024 and 2025, and the development of passenger ship designs. The extended cooperation aims to enhance the role of State Attorneys (JPN) as strategic legal partners, involved from the outset to offer legal advice, identify potential problems, mitigate risks, and improve corporate decision-making.

"This synergy is important to support Pelni in carrying out corporate actions professionally, prudently, and in accordance with good corporate governance principles," Budi added. He expressed hope that the extended agreement would further protect the interests of the company and the state, supporting professional, transparent, accountable, and legally compliant business activities.
