Penghu's Hou Liao Paradise Road Rest Stop Opens, Fostering Community Tourism Model

The Penghu County Government has inaugurated a new rest stop along the popular "Paradise Road" in Hou Liao, aiming to boost tourism in the northern part of the island. The newly opened "Hou Liao Paradise Road Scenic Corridor Rest Stop" features a castle-like structure and is designed to integrate with the local community's development model.

The Hou Liao Paradise Road, known for its winding path extending into the sea and vast ocean views, was historically an important pier for local Wang Chuan festivals. The county government secured funding from the Tourism Administration to develop the area, adding the castle-themed rest stop, visitor services, recreational spaces, and an "Angel's Wings" art installation.

Officials emphasized that the project is more than just public infrastructure; it signifies a crucial step in developing northern Penghu's tourism. The government plans to collaborate with the Hou Liao community and local industries to offer guided tours, cultural experiences, and unique travel routes. The goal is to connect tourism resources across Hou Liao, Yuanbei Islet, and the northern Penghu region, creating a travel corridor that highlights natural landscapes, fishing village culture, and slow travel experiences.

The opening ceremony featured a performance by the Penghu Defense Command's war drum team and a local food tasting event organized by the Hou Liao Community Development Association. The project aims to build a sustainable operating model driven by the community.
