Pertamina Patra Niaga Provides Emergency Learning Space for Bengkulu Students

Students at SMP Negeri 19 Bengkulu are continuing their education thanks to a swift response from Pertamina Patra Niaga. Following a fire that damaged the school's facilities, the company's Fuel Terminal Pulau Baai stepped in to provide emergency learning spaces, ensuring that the students' educational journey remains uninterrupted.

The initiative, part of Pertamina Patra Niaga's Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, addresses the immediate need for adequate learning environments. Previously, the 192 students at the school were forced to attend classes in two shifts due to the limited number of available classrooms. The provision of four tents, 160 sets of desks and chairs, six whiteboards, and six blowers aims to restore a more normal and comfortable learning routine.

Edward Manaor Siahaan, Manager of CID Planning, Monitoring, and Reporting, emphasized the importance of education as a foundation for the future. "Through the TJSL program, we view education as a crucial foundation for children's futures," he stated. "Therefore, we are enthusiastic about participating in this recovery process. We hope the provided facilities will make learning more comfortable, effective, and beneficial for the students. Thank you to all stakeholders who have supported this process."

Kitty Andhora, VP of Corporate Communications at Pertamina Patra Niaga, echoed this sentiment, stressing that the aftermath of the fire should not hinder students' access to a proper learning experience. "The recovery after a fire certainly requires a process and collaboration from various parties," Andhora said. "The most important thing for us is to ensure that children continue to have a space to learn, grow, and pursue their dreams. We hope this temporary learning space will help students and teachers resume their learning activities comfortably."

Beyond providing physical facilities, Pertamina Patra Niaga also incorporated educational elements into the event. Students received energy education about Pertamina's products and safety training from the Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) team, including lessons on fire awareness and safe fire-fighting techniques. This holistic approach aims to provide added value and equip students with practical knowledge for their daily lives.
