Peru Bakery National Selection winners to represent country at world championships in France and Italy

The inaugural Peru Bakery National Selection is taking place at the Gastromaq 2026 fair, bringing together more than 50 finalists from across five Peruvian regions. These talented bakers are competing in six national and international contests with the ultimate goal of earning a spot on the teams that will officially represent Peru at world championships in France and Italy.

To guarantee that the evaluations meet global benchmarks, the competition features a distinguished international jury. Leading the panel is Davide Malizia, a celebrated Italian master chef with six world pastry championships to his name, widely regarded as a significant figure in the culinary sector. His involvement ensures that competitors are assessed against world-class standards.

The event serves as a crucial platform for the professionalization of Peru's bakery and pastry industry. Beyond selecting winners, the initiative aims to cultivate a new generation of culinary talent capable of competing at the highest international levels. The fair itself is expected to draw approximately 25,000 visitors from the gastronomic sector.

Six distinct competitions are being held concurrently, including the Peru Bakery Championship 2026 (a qualifier for France's Mondial du Pain), the International High Pastry Competition Paco Torreblanca, and the Peru Panettone Championship 2026. Other contests include the Peru Pastry Championship 2026, the National Cake Design and Fondant Championship 2026, and the National Tiramisu Championship 2026.
