Peru's Pensión 65 to Double Aid to S/700 for Beneficiaries

Peru's government plans to double the monthly subsidy for its Pensión 65 program, increasing aid from S/350 to S/700 for beneficiaries. This initiative aims to bolster support for elderly individuals living in extreme poverty. President Keiko Fujimori announced the change as part of a state policy called "Cuidando la experiencia" (Caring for Experience), which also envisions a universal pension for this demographic.

The program, managed by the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis), targets adults aged 65 and above who are classified as extremely poor and do not receive other forms of financial support. Requirements include having a valid national ID and being registered in the General Household Registry of the Social Welfare Targeting System (Sisfoh).

Beneficiaries can check their inclusion status via the official platform or the Yachaq Pensión 65 app.
