Petrolul Ploiești secures away win; Voluntari and Oțelul draw in Superliga

Petrolul Ploiești secured a significant 3-2 victory on the road against 'U' Cluj at the Cluj Arena, marking their fourth win of the season in the seventh round of Romania's Superliga.

The visitors opened the scoring early in the third minute through Bran Flores, after Leo Teixeira's shot-cross hit the post. 'U' Cluj equalized in the 11th minute with a long-range effort from Jovo Lukic. Petrolul regained the lead in the 26th minute with a goal from Jerdea, heading into halftime with a one-goal advantage despite Macalou hitting the woodwork for Cluj.

In the second half, Petrolul extended their lead in the 49th minute through Nlundulu. Lukic scored his second goal in the 55th minute, reducing the deficit for 'U' Cluj. A controversial moment occurred in the 62nd minute when Cluj appealed for a penalty, but the referee instead booked Ștefănescu for simulation. Despite late pressure from the home side, Petrolul's defense held firm to secure the win.

In the other match of the round, FC Voluntari and Oțelul Galați drew 2-2. Voluntari took an early lead through Remus Guțea in the third minute, but Patrick equalized for Oțelul in the sixth. Guțea scored again in the 14th minute, only for Oțelul to equalize in the 72nd minute via a Pedro Nuno penalty. Voluntari also struck the woodwork twice late in the game through Chică-Roșă.

Prior to the matches, a moment of silence was observed in memory of former international Nicolae Ungureanu, who passed away at the age of 69.
