Pingtung's Ci Feng Temple Celebrates Mazu's Birthday with Blessings and Festivities

The vibrant city of Pingtung is abuzz with activity as the revered Ci Feng Temple prepares to celebrate the birthday of Mazu, the goddess of the sea. This year's festivities promise to be particularly grand, blending traditional rituals with modern entertainment to create a cultural spectacle that resonates deeply with the local community and its enduring faith.

A central highlight of the celebration is the 'treading the sedan chair' ritual, an ancient practice where devotees pass under Mazu's palanquin to seek blessings for peace and prosperity. This year, the event, aptly named 'Children of Ah-Hou Mazu,' runs from May 6th to 9th, inviting locals and those who have moved away to return home and connect with their spiritual roots. Following this, on May 9th, the temple will generously distribute 20,000 servings of longevity noodles, a symbol of good fortune and well-being, ensuring that all attendees can partake in Mazu's blessings.

The festivities culminate on May 10th with a grand raffle draw, featuring a brand-new SUV as the grand prize, alongside 30 cash prizes of NT$16,888. This exciting element adds a modern flair to the traditional celebration, symbolizing a double dose of wealth and good luck for the winners.
