PKR Terengganu Seeks Clarity on Unity Government Direction

The Terengganu chapter of the People's Justice Party (PKR) is calling for a clear definition of the party's direction within the unity government. This issue is a top priority for the upcoming National Conference in Melaka next week, according to Kuala Terengganu PKR branch chief Datuk Azan Ismail.

He emphasized the importance of this clarity, particularly for Terengganu, where both Barisan Nasional (BN) and PKR failed to secure any seats in the 15th General Election, presenting a different political dynamic compared to other states.

The state chapter also hopes the central leadership will make decisions regarding party positions and seat allocations for future elections. "I hope this issue will be clearly explained at the conference so that PKR Terengganu knows Pakatan Harapan (PH) can make adequate preparations," Azan told Utusan Malaysia.

Regarding the political landscape in Terengganu, Azan expressed skepticism about the potential cooperation between Perikatan Nasional (PN) and BN. While acknowledging positive developments in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, he believes the situation in Terengganu is distinct. "As we know, BN does not have a single seat in Terengganu. So, it is quite impossible for PAS to give opportunities or seats to BN," he stated, adding that BN's ambition to re-establish a foothold in the state would be difficult to achieve if such cooperation were pursued.
