Plane hits, kills pedestrian on runway; engine catches fire, passengers evacuated

The pilot of Frontier Airlines Flight 4345 can be heard on audio recordings communicating with air traffic control about the incident, stating, "We're stopping on the runway, we just hit somebody, we have an engine fire... There was an individual walking across the runway." The pilot subsequently informed the tower of smoke in the aircraft and the decision to evacuate passengers on the runway.

While the pedestrian tragically died, and preliminary reports indicate they may have been partially consumed by one of the engines, the evacuation resulted in minor injuries for 12 passengers. Five of these individuals were taken to local hospitals for further assessment. The Denver Fire Department successfully extinguished the brief engine fire.
