Plateau State targets 50,000 digital jobs through Outsource Global partnership

Plateau State is making a significant stride towards economic diversification and youth empowerment through a strategic partnership with Outsource Global. Governor Caleb Mutfwang recently met with the company's delegation, formalizing a collaboration designed to position the state as a premier destination for outsourced services in Nigeria. This initiative aligns with the state's long-term economic growth agenda, emphasizing the critical role of workforce development in attracting investment and unlocking new opportunities.

Outsource Global's founder, Amal Hassan, highlighted Nigeria's growing potential in the global outsourcing market, citing the country's capacity to deliver high-quality professional services. The company's expansion to Jos was prompted by thorough research confirming Plateau State's readiness for large-scale outsourcing operations. The program has already seen substantial local interest, with approximately 6,000 applications received in the first week of recruitment, signaling a strong demand for such opportunities among the state's youth.

He described the initiative as a dual-purpose program: an employment pipeline and a comprehensive human capital development framework. The platform is designed to identify talent, match individuals with their skill sets, and guide them toward suitable career paths. The ambitious goal is to scale the program to accommodate 50,000 participants, with a significant portion expected to secure international placements while others find roles within the domestic outsourcing sector.

He stated, “A certificate alone does not confer competence; we must prioritize practical capabilities.” This approach, coupled with a six-month internship model serving as a 'funnel system' to enhance employability, aims to ensure that at least 50 percent of participants remain actively employed. The initiative represents a forward-thinking strategy to leverage technology and skills development for economic growth and job creation in Plateau State.
