Poland Consolidates Aviation and Rail Under One Deputy Minister

Poland's Ministry of Infrastructure has reorganized its responsibilities, placing aviation policy under the purview of Deputy Minister Piotr Malepszak. This shift consolidates oversight of key transport sectors, with Malepszak now managing both rail and air transport.

Malepszak's new duties include overseeing major aviation entities such as LOT Polish Airlines and Polish Airports. He will also be responsible for the Civil Aviation Authority (ULC) and the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PAŻP). His role extends to supervising the State Commission on Aviation Accidents Investigation.

This expanded portfolio follows the departure of former Deputy Minister Maciej Lasek, who relinquished his roles related to the Central Communication Port (CPK) and as deputy minister at the end of June. Malepszak, who had previously served as vice-president and acting president for the rail component of the CPK project, was appointed as the new government plenipotentiary for CPK.

Malepszak brings extensive experience in rail transport, having held positions at PKP Polish Lines for many years, including director of the Railway Lines Office and plenipotentiary for railway line revitalization. He also served on the management board for technical affairs at Koleje Dolnośląskie SA. His background in rail is now complemented by his new responsibilities in the aviation sector.
