Poland Faces Cool, Rainy, and Stormy Weather as Low-Pressure System Arrives

Poland is bracing for a significant weather shift as a new low-pressure system moves in, bringing unsettled conditions across the country. Forecasters at the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) predict cool, wet, and stormy weather for Thursday and Friday.

Residents can expect widespread intermittent rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. The IMGW has warned of potentially heavy downpours, particularly in the eastern and northeastern parts of the country, where rainfall could reach up to 30 mm, and locally up to 40 mm in some regions. Hail is also possible in certain areas.

Temperatures are set to drop, with maximums expected to range between 17 degrees Celsius in the north and 22 degrees Celsius in the southeast. Mountainous regions like Podhale will see even cooler temperatures around 16 degrees Celsius. Winds will be moderate to strong, with gusts reaching up to 55 km/h, and potentially up to 70 km/h during thunderstorms. Higher mountain areas, such as the Sudetes, could experience winds up to 100 km/h.

The weather pattern places Poland within the influence of a cool polar maritime air mass, characterized by falling atmospheric pressure. While the west may see some clearing on Friday, the eastern half of the country is likely to remain under cloudy skies with continued chances of rain and storms.
