According to DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Public Relations Officer, the incident occurred on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, when operatives on routine patrol along the Oba-Ile axis intercepted a distress call. The police team initiated a pursuit of a red Toyota Camry, and during the chase, the kidnappers forcefully ejected the victim, identified as Kayode Alaba, in a desperate bid to evade capture.

Upon receipt of the report, the operatives swiftly mobilised and initiated a coordinated pursuit of the suspected vehicle. During the chase, the suspects forcefully ejected the victim, later identified as Kayode Alaba from the moving vehicle in a bid to evade arrest.

Despite the victim being ejected, the police sustained their pursuit, leading to the arrest of Adegbenro Adeola. While other members of the syndicate escaped, the arrested suspect is providing useful information that will aid the ongoing investigation. The victim has been rescued and is receiving medical attention. The command urges residents to remain vigilant and continue providing actionable intelligence, emphasizing that collective efforts are vital in combating crime in the state.
