Police arrest seven over phone snatching, burglary in Yobe

In a significant stride against criminal elements plaguing Damaturu, the Yobe State Police Command has successfully apprehended seven suspected members of a syndicate responsible for a spate of burglaries, thefts, and phone snatching incidents. This coordinated operation, conducted between April 16 and 19, demonstrates the command's unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.

The Yobe State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its sustained efforts to combat crime and criminality across the state.

The suspects, identified as Usman Mohd, Abubakar Adamu, Mohd Ibrahim, Mohd Goni, Khalifa Mohd, Abubakar Mohammed, and Ali Mohammed, all within the age range of 19 to 23, confessed to their involvement in multiple criminal activities during interrogation. Their confessions included the admission of stealing seven Android phones and two keypad phones, a significant portion of which, six devices, have since been recovered by the police.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in a series of burglary, theft, and phone snatching incidents within the affected areas.

The Yobe State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner Usman Kanfani Jibrin, has lauded the diligent efforts of the operatives involved in this successful operation. The command emphasized that investigations are ongoing, with the suspects slated for prosecution upon conclusion. This action sends a clear message to criminal elements that their activities will not be tolerated within the state.
