Police arrest three suspected drug dealers in Jigawa, seize illicit drugs

The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended three individuals suspected of dealing illicit drugs, confiscating a significant quantity of prohibited substances. The arrests were made during coordinated raids conducted across the state following credible intelligence.

The suspects were arrested during coordinated raids carried out by police operatives based on credible intelligence gathered on activities linked to the sale, distribution and abuse of prohibited drugs.

Authorities reported the seizure of 5,676 pieces of assorted illicit drugs. Among the recovered items were 3,833 Exol tablets, 204 Tramadol tablets, 919 Diazepam tablets, and 114 Pregabalin capsules. The operation also yielded 101 tubes of rubber solution, 30 Lara capsules, codeine syrup, two liters of a substance known locally as “Suck and Die,” and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The operation resulted in the recovery of a large quantity of suspected illicit substances, including 3,833 Exol tablets, 204 Tramadol tablets, 919 Diazepam tablets and 114 Pregabalin capsules.

In addition to the drugs, police recovered N93,626 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illicit drug trade. The command highlighted these arrests as part of a sustained effort to dismantle criminal networks involved in drug trafficking and abuse within Jigawa State.

The police also recovered dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, scientifically known as Cannabis sativa, comprising one block and 475 wraps. During the operation, the operatives also recovered the sum of N93,626, which is reasonably believed to be proceeds from the illicit drug trade.

Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their professionalism and vigilance. He reiterated the serious impact of drug abuse and trafficking on violent crimes and social vices, particularly among youth. The commissioner issued a stern warning to those involved in the drug trade, vowing to intensify intelligence-led operations against drug networks. The three suspects have been arraigned in court.
