Police Find Four Bodies in Two Rivers in One Day

Karlovac, Croatia – A grim discovery unfolded yesterday as Croatian police reported finding a total of four bodies in the Kupa and Mrežnica rivers in the Karlovac region within a single day. Večernji List brings you the details of this disturbing series of events.

The first report came in the afternoon, concerning a body spotted in the Kupa River near Sračak, in the municipality of Ribnik. Police officers from Ozalj responded promptly, and with the assistance of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS), the body of an unidentified male was recovered and an investigation at the scene commenced.

Later that afternoon, a more somber discovery was made downstream in the Kupa River, near Gornje Prilišće in the municipality of Netretić. Acting on a report from Slovenian police, officers, alongside Slovenian firefighters, retrieved two more bodies of unidentified males from the river. A thorough investigation was conducted at this location as well.

Yesterday afternoon, police officers of the Karlovac Police Department received two reports about the sighting of a total of three dead bodies in the Kupa River and one report about the sighting of a dead body in the Mrežnica River.

As evening approached, another report surfaced: a body was sighted in the Mrežnica River near Gornji Zvečaj, in the municipality of Generalski Stol. HGSS members again assisted in recovering the body of an unidentified male, and a crime scene investigation followed.

Authorities have stated that further criminal investigations and autopsies are pending to establish the exact cause of death and confirm the identities of all four individuals. The proximity of these discoveries raises significant questions, and the police are working diligently to piece together the circumstances surrounding these tragic findings.
