Police Find Weapons, Police Gear, and Fake Grenade in Dilsen-Stokkem Property

Police in the Maasland zone have uncovered a disturbing cache of illegal weapons, police equipment, and even traffic signs during an intervention in Dilsen-Stokkem. The discovery was made in an industrial building that also showed signs of having been used for cannabis cultivation, though it was not active at the time. The presence of these items, particularly the police materials and weapons, raises serious questions about their origin and intended use.

Adding to the unease, a hand grenade was found among the other items. While the bomb disposal unit DOVO was called to the scene as a precaution and ultimately determined the grenade to be fake, its discovery underscores the potentially dangerous nature of the situation. The local police chief, Dirk Minten, expressed his concern, noting the unusual combination of items and the fact that traffic signs appeared to have been stolen from the local area.

We found a hand grenade among all the material. Because we wanted to be sure, we had DOVO come. We also cordoned off the immediate surroundings to ensure safety. Ultimately, it turned out that the grenade was fake.

The resident of the property, a 28-year-old man from Dilsen-Stokkem, was not present during the initial intervention but later presented himself to the police. He has since been questioned and released under conditions pending the ongoing investigation. The seized items, including the weapons, police paraphernalia, and traffic signs, are now central to the investigation being conducted by the local police zone Maasland. The community awaits further details on how these illicit materials ended up in their midst.
